Sr Finance Business Partner - Commercial

Patsnap is a global SaaS platform that uses domain-specific AI to support Intellectual Property and Research & Development productivity. The Senior Finance Business Partner will support the Commercial organization through financial planning, performance management, sales capacity and productivity analysis, incentive compensation, forecasting, and business decision support.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as a Finance Business Partner for assigned Commercial teams and business areas, developing a strong understanding of sales motions, product mix, customer segments and key performance drivers
• Partner closely with Commercial leadership and cross-functional teams to translate financial and operational data into actionable insights and support business decisions
• Provide financial perspective on resource allocation, growth initiatives, investment decisions, and risks and opportunities
• Own sales capacity and productivity analysis, including headcount, hiring and ramp assumptions, quota capacity, attainment, pipeline and other key commercial drivers
• Analyze ACV/bookings and broader commercial performance versus plan and forecast, identifying the underlying drivers of over- or under-performance
• Partner with Commercial leadership and Revenue Operations to strengthen forecasting, scenario planning and visibility into business performance
• Support the design and ongoing management of sales commission and incentive plans, ensuring alignment with commercial priorities and desired behaviors
• Provide financial analysis and insights around commission structures, performance and effectiveness to support business decisions
• Partner with Commercial leadership, Revenue Operations, HR and Finance stakeholders on commission-related planning and continuous improvement
• Lead budgeting, quarterly and rolling forecasts, and monthly budget-versus-actual analysis for assigned business areas
• Build driver-based forecasts connecting commercial assumptions, headcount and operating plans to financial outcomes
• Partner with business leaders on headcount planning, investment decisions, risks and opportunities while working closely with the broader FP&A team on company-wide planning
• Provide recurring and ad hoc analysis across commercial performance, product mix, sales productivity, headcount, commissions and investments
• Develop clear, scalable reporting that helps leadership understand what changed, why it changed and the implications for the business
• Work closely with Accounting and cross-functional teams to ensure financial results are understood and connected to underlying business performance

Requirements:

• 5–8 years of progressive experience in FP&A, commercial finance, sales finance or Finance Business Partnering
• Strong experience supporting a Sales or broader Go-to-Market organization within a SaaS, enterprise software or technology company
• Demonstrated experience with sales capacity, productivity and topline forecasting models
• Strong understanding of SaaS commercial metrics and revenue drivers, including ACV/ARR, new logo, expansion, renewals, quota attainment, pipeline, sales productivity and rep ramp
• Strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities, with advanced Excel skills
• Strong business acumen and ability to connect operational and commercial decisions to financial outcomes
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the confidence to constructively challenge assumptions and influence business partners
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment with a high degree of ownership and autonomy
• Experience with sales commissions and incentive compensation, including commission modeling and/or plan design, strongly preferred
• Experience working with CRM and financial/planning systems; Salesforce experience strongly preferred
• This is a remote position with a preference for candidates based on the U.S. East Coast who work Eastern Time hours, supporting close collaboration with our Commercial teams across the U.S., UK, and Canada
