Software Engineer

Optum is a global healthcare organization that uses technology to improve health outcomes and connect people with essential care, pharmacy benefits, and data. The Software Engineer will design, develop, deploy, and maintain cloud-based software applications and services, including distributed streaming architectures, containerized deployments, AI-powered solutions, platform automations, and modern APIs.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software applications and services in an Agile team environment
• Write clean, well-structured, maintainable, and efficient code adhering to software engineering best practices
• Participate in code reviews, design sessions, sprint planning, and retrospectives to ensure high-quality software delivery
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application bugs, performance bottlenecks, and system issues
• Build and maintain continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate application deployments
• Ensure application security, scalability, and adherence to enterprise security and engineering standards
• Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions and platform automations to address complex business challenges with an emphasis on responsible AI practices
• Use enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline workflows, automate repetitive tasks, and drive continuous improvement
• Evaluate emerging technology trends to inform solution design and strategic innovation

Requirements:

• 4+ years of professional experience in software engineering, developing software applications using Python or Golang
• 3+ years of experience with Kafka, Kubernetes (K8s), GCP (Google Cloud Platform), and Terraform
• 2+ years of experience with software design, development, and integration
• 2+ years of experience working in an Agile development environment (Scrum or Kanban)
• 2+ years of experience with version control systems (e.g., Git)
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline
• Experience designing, developing, or deploying enterprise AI-powered solutions, machine learning integrations, or automated workflow engines
• Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
• Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices architecture in enterprise environments
