DevOps Engineer

Abacus Insights is transforming healthcare data for health plans by creating trusted, connected data foundations that support better care and cost decisions. The DevOps Engineer will build and maintain secure, scalable, compliant cloud infrastructure, improve CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code practices, manage containerized environments, and implement monitoring and observability across engineering systems.

Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain secure, scalable, HIPAA- and HITRUST-compliant infrastructure on multiple cloud platforms (AWS and Azure)
• Design, implement, and manage scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure
• Contribute to DevOps architecture best practices and help shape our approach to CI/CD and infrastructure as code (IaC)
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and security teams to design robust infrastructure solutions
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Python-based scripts to automate testing, validation, and deployment workflows
• Build and manage containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes (EKS, AKS, and self-hosted)
• Implement monitoring and observability using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Splunk
• Support the design, implementation, and adoption of our custom Python- and Cloud-based deployment platform with an eye toward continuous delivery
• Promote best practices both within the team and within the larger organization

Requirements:

• 4+ years of development experience, including work on complex systems
• Strong cloud experience
• Solid understanding of Linux systems administration and networking
• Experience implementing a CI/CD system using an industry-standard platform such as GitLab, Jenkins, or Travis
• Knowledge of containerization, specifically Docker and Kubernetes
• Fluent command of the tools of the trade, including Bash, Python, or Terraform
• Knowledge of best practices as related to designing and building efficient, maintainable, testable, portable applications
• Keen attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• A team-first attitude, always looking to improve yourself and those around you
• AWS preferred
