Sr Java Software Engineer

Riana Technologies is seeking a senior software engineer to build and maintain scalable Java backend applications. The role focuses on microservices, distributed systems, AWS deployments, RESTful APIs, Kafka-based integrations, database development, testing, troubleshooting, and collaboration across engineering teams.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot
• Design and develop Microservices-based applications and distributed backend systems
• Build and deploy Java applications using AWS cloud services
• Design, develop, and consume RESTful APIs and services
• Build and support asynchronous, event-driven integrations using Apache Kafka
• Develop database-driven applications using Hibernate/JPA
• Design database schemas and optimize SQL queries when required
• Integrate backend services with external systems and third-party platforms
• Write and maintain unit, integration, and functional tests
• Troubleshoot application issues and improve system performance, scalability, and reliability
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, code reviews, testing, and production delivery
• Collaborate with product, QA, DevOps, frontend, and other engineering teams

Requirements:

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong hands-on Java backend development
• Strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot
• Strong experience with Microservices architecture
• Extensive experience developing and consuming REST APIs
• Strong hands-on experience with Hibernate / JPA
• Experience with AWS cloud services and deploying applications to AWS
• Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka, event-driven architecture, and asynchronous messaging
• Strong understanding of backend application architecture and distributed systems
• Experience with unit, integration, and functional testing
• Experience working in an Agile development environment
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Docker and Kubernetes
• CI/CD and DevOps practices
• Experience with authentication, authorization, identity, or application security
