Agentic AI Engineer

Zelis is modernizing the healthcare financial experience across payers, providers, and healthcare consumers through technology and AI. The Agentic AI Engineer will identify complex healthcare challenges, translate them into scalable AI solutions, and own projects from discovery through production launch. The role includes building AI agents, workflows, integrations, APIs, and data pipelines while partnering with business and technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Partner with internal business leaders and engineers to identify high-value AI opportunities
• Translate complex healthcare business problems into scalable agentic AI solutions
• Use the right tool for the problem. Apply AI where reasoning and ambiguity require it, while using deterministic software, rules, and controls where they provide greater reliability
• Design, build, and deploy production-ready AI agents and applications
• Build agent workflows, tool integrations, APIs, data pipelines, and orchestration layers
• Work directly with stakeholders through discovery, implementation, launch, and handoff
• Improve automation, decision support, accuracy, and operational efficiency
• Identify reusable agentic patterns that strengthen the core platform
• Tackle ambiguous problems where there isn't an existing playbook
• Validate outcomes, establish guardrails, and transition solutions to long-term owning teams
