Assistant Project Manager II

Quanta Government Solutions, part of Quanta Services, provides infrastructure and federal contracting solutions for government and related industries. The Assistant Project Manager II supports federal construction projects by coordinating safety, quality, cost, schedule, compliance, documentation, subcontractors, vendors, and project reporting while developing toward a Project Manager role.

Responsibilities:

• Support the Project Manager in executing assigned projects through all Acquire–Comply–Execute stages
• Assist in coordinating Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) across Operations, Safety/Quality, Finance, and Supply Chain
• Participate in required project meetings, action tracking, and documentation preparation
• Support stage-gate reviews by compiling required artifacts and maintaining auditable project records
• Assist with coordination and communication between internal teams, subcontractors, vendors, and partners
• Support preparation of client-facing materials and meeting agendas under Project Manager guidance
• Track subcontractor deliverables, RFIs, and submittals to ensure timely responses and approvals
• Support monthly forecasting, cost tracking, trend logs, and variance analysis
• Help ensure cost documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with DCAA audit requirements
• Identify potential schedule risks or variances and escalate to the Project Manager for mitigation planning
• Support compliance with FAR/DFARS, DCAA, CUI protection, and ISO 9001 quality requirements
• Assist with maintaining site-specific plans including APP/JHAs, Environmental Plans, and QCPs
• Help maintain project risk and opportunity logs, track action items, and support closeout activities
• Assist in preparing weekly progress reports, three-week look-ahead schedules, risk logs, and cost/schedule metrics (CPI, SPI)
• Ensure all project documentation, correspondence, and reports are uploaded and maintained in the QGS OPS Platform (GCC High) with proper version control
• Actively develop project management competencies with the goal of progressing into a Project Manager role
• Participate in training, certifications, and mentoring opportunities supported by QGS
• Performs any other duties assigned by the PM, including acting as PM when PM is unavailable (when deemed qualified by PM/Operations Director)

Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience supporting federal, industrial, or large-scale commercial construction projects - typically achieved after 1-2 years of demonstrated performance as an Assistant Project Manager I, or through equivalent lateral experience for external candidates
• Equivalent field and project experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
• Working familiarity with FAR/DFARS, DCAA, and basic federal construction compliance concepts
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work in a matrixed, fast-paced federal contracting environment
• Bachelor/associate degree in construction management, Engineering, completed a four year craft apprenticeship or related field experience
• Exposure to multiple projects valued at $1M+
• PMP or CAPM (PMP required within a defined period for advancement)
• OSHA 10 (QGS will support obtainment if not held upon hire)
