Senior Software Engineer

ForwardCare is an AI-powered network of next-generation behavioral health treatment centers that partners with clinicians, healthcare operators, and investors to operate technology-enabled programs. The Senior Software Engineer designs, develops, and maintains scalable software systems for behavioral health platforms, including back-end services, APIs, and AI-driven components. The role also focuses on reliability, security, performance, technical collaboration, code reviews, mentoring, troubleshooting, and development best practices.

Responsibilities:

• Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable software systems that support ForwardCare’s behavioral health platforms
• Building and optimizing back-end services and APIs
• Integrating AI-driven components
• Ensuring reliability, security, and performance across distributed systems
• Collaborates closely with product, clinical operations, and data teams to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Conduct code reviews
• Mentor other engineers
• Coding
• Architectural design
• Troubleshooting production issues
• Improving development processes
• Contributing to technical documentation and best practices

Requirements:

• Strong foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and software architecture principles
• Proficiency in Software Development and Programming, with experience building production-grade applications and services
• Hands-on expertise in Back-End Web Development, including RESTful APIs, microservices, and database design
• Advanced skills in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and design patterns for building maintainable, modular code
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization, and CI/CD pipelines
• Ability to work effectively in a remote, cross-functional environment and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Track record of leading technical initiatives, mentoring engineers, and contributing to architectural decisions
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or other regulated industries is a plus, especially familiarity with security, privacy, and compliance requirements
