Position Overview

Seeking an experienced Migration Project Manager / Migration Lead to manage a large-scale enterprise storage migration involving approximately 3.3 PB of allocated storage and 1.6 PB of consumed data across multiple sites, storage arrays, and hosts.

The resource will be responsible for migration discovery and planning, migration event management, pre/post-migration performance analysis, task coordination, reporting, and overall execution oversight.

 

Migration Scope

• Approximately 3.3 PB (3,292 TB) of allocated storage
• Approximately 1.6 PB of consumed data
• 14 Dell EMC VMAX 950F arrays
• 6 sites
• 477 hosts
• Migration to target Dell PowerMax arrays
• Up to 4 additional PowerMax arrays may be added to support capacity planning
• Up to 10% of in-scope hosts have production SRDF replication that will need to be recreated as part of the migration

 

Key Responsibilities

• Manage large, complex enterprise storage migration projects from discovery through completion
• Lead approximately 2 months of discovery and migration planning
• Develop and manage the overall migration schedule, dependencies, milestones, and migration events
• Coordinate up to 2 migration weeks per month
• Manage up to 18 migration events
• Coordinate migration volumes of up to 300 TB per month
• Manage individual migration events from preparation through completion
• Coordinate pre- and post-migration activities across technical teams
• Perform and/or coordinate pre/post migration performance analysis, including array statistics
• Track and report on pre- and post-migration tasks
• Coordinate migration readiness, execution, validation, and issue resolution
• Provide migration status reporting and communicate risks, dependencies, and issues
• Coordinate pre/post health checks of storage arrays
• Ensure migration activities are properly sequenced and coordinated across the customer and hybrid delivery teams
• Coordinate recreation of production SRDF replication for applicable hosts

 

Required Experience / Skills

• Proven experience managing large, complex enterprise storage migration projects
• Experience with large-scale Dell EMC storage environments
• Experience with VMAX and/or PowerMax
• Strong understanding of storage migration methodologies and dependencies
• Experience with Open Replicator and SRDF
• Experience managing large numbers of hosts, arrays, sites, and migration events
• Strong project coordination, task tracking, reporting, and stakeholder management skills
• Experience with pre/post migration performance analysis and storage health checks
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent migration activities and technical dependencies
