Power Systems Engineer II

Electric Power Engineers is hiring a Power Systems Engineer II to conduct computer modeling and analysis for transmission planning studies. The role performs power system impact, generator interconnection, and NERC-compliance analyses and prepares technical study reports.

Responsibilities:

• Perform power system impact studies: Steady State, Short Circuit, and Dynamic Stability
• Perform NERC-compliance-related technical analyses such as TPL Annual Planning Assessments
• Perform full generator interconnection studies which may also include Sub-Synchronous Resonance (SSR) studies
• Ensure that renewable and/or storage resource projects interconnecting to the transmission system meet Voltage Ride-Through (VRT) requirements
• Prepare technical study reports for all studies performed. Process, generate, and maintain data as required for all studies
• Take responsibility for the timely completion of projects assigned while meeting all project quality and budget objectives
• Identify training needs and present to the Engineering Manager as needed

Requirements:

• 2+ years of experience as a power systems engineer performing impact studies such as Dynamic Stability, Steady State, and Short Circuit
• Experience with power systems software such as PSS/E, PSLF, PSCAD, Aspen, and TARA
• Experience leveraging AI and automation tools responsibly to improve quality, productivity and innovation
• Proven team player with the ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships
• Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal, particularly with respect to explaining technical matters
• Capable of managing multiple tasks
• Flexible with the ability to manage change
• Have high standards in producing quality reports and products that he/she shall own with pride
• Strong technical report writing skills
• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, emphasis in Power Systems preferred
• Experience automating/programming in Python preferred
