Data Analyst II

The University of Kentucky is seeking a Data Analyst II for its Public Health Analytics and Informatics department. The role develops and maintains reporting and business intelligence solutions, analyzes data from multiple sources, and helps stakeholders use accurate, actionable insights.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards, reports, and interactive visualizations using Tableau, Power BI, and other business intelligence and data visualization tools
• Analyze data from multiple sources to identify trends, patterns, relationships, discrepancies, and other information relevant to organizational needs
• Develop recurring and ad hoc reports, interpret analytical results, and communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Use SQL and other data-access tools to retrieve, combine, filter, aggregate, and prepare data for reporting, visualization, and analysis
• Validate reporting results against source systems and business rules, investigate discrepancies, and help resolve data-quality issues
• Collaborate with business users, analysts, and technical staff to gather requirements and translate business questions into effective analytical and visualization solutions
• Support and troubleshoot existing dashboards, reports, data sources, and scheduled refreshes, and assist users in effectively using reporting resources
• Document and test dashboards, reports, SQL queries, calculations, data sources, and business rules while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement

Requirements:

• MA
• 2 yrs
• Experience developing reports, dashboards, or data visualizations
• Experience with data analysis, reporting, business intelligence, or a related area
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently on assigned projects and collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Master's degree
• 2 years of related experience
• Understanding of effective data visualization principles, including chart selection, dashboard design, usability, and accessibility
• Experience developing dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, or similar business intelligence and data visualization platforms
