Quality Engineer

American College of Education is hiring a Quality Engineer to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of its digital learning platforms and internal software systems. The role develops and maintains automated testing frameworks, embeds quality across the software development lifecycle, and improves testing practices to support students, faculty, and staff.

Responsibilities:

• This position designs, develops, and maintains scalable automated testing frameworks and scripts, collaborates with cross-functional teams to embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle, and drives continuous improvement in testing practices to support a seamless experience for students, faculty, and staff

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and professional experience will be considered
• 5 or more years of progressive experience in software quality assurance with a primary focus on test automation
• Strong proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages used for test automation (Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or C#)
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing test automation frameworks with tools such as Selenium WebDriver, Cypress, Playwright, Appium, or comparable solutions
• Experience with API testing using tools/frameworks such as Postman, RestAssured, or similar
• Experience defining automated quality gates in CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with test reporting, observability, or engineering-quality dashboards
• Familiarity with CI/CD platforms and practices (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.)
• Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and active participation in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills combined with a high attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a fully remote, cross-functional environment
• Experience with accessibility standards (WCAG) and performance/load testing tools is highly desirable
• Prior experience in higher education, edtech, or SaaS product environments is a plus
