Director of Engineering - Healthcare

CytoCync is hiring a Director of Engineering – Healthcare to lead engineering strategy and execution for its HIPAA-aware software services model. The role sets technical direction, oversees engineering teams and client-system integrations, and ensures secure, reliable delivery aligned with healthcare compliance requirements.

Responsibilities:

• The Director of Engineering – Healthcare is a remote, contract role responsible for leading engineering strategy and execution in support of CytoCync’s HIPAA-aware software services model
• This role oversees engineering teams, sets technical direction, and ensures solutions meet healthcare compliance, performance, and reliability standards
• Day-to-day responsibilities include guiding software development efforts, coordinating cross-functional projects, managing integration initiatives with client systems, and maintaining rigorous quality and security practices
• The Director will collaborate closely with product, compliance, and customer-facing teams to ensure that engineering decisions support predictable delivery, risk reduction, and regulatory alignment

Requirements:

• Strong Engineering Management and Team Leadership skills, with experience building and guiding high-performing, distributed engineering teams
• Hands-on Software Development expertise in modern technology stacks, with a track record of delivering secure, scalable applications in regulated or healthcare environments
• Proficiency in Project Management, including scoping, prioritization, stakeholder communication, and execution in a contract or services-based model
• Experience with Integration work, such as connecting platforms, APIs, and third-party systems within healthcare or similarly regulated domains
• Background in healthcare technology, health data workflows, or HIPAA-regulated systems; familiarity with security best practices and compliance frameworks
• Ability to operate effectively in a remote setting, with strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills
• Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Demonstrated ability to align engineering decisions with business goals, risk management priorities, and client needs
