Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced ServiceNow CMDB Architect to lead the design, implementation, governance, and optimization of the ServiceNow Configuration Management Database (CMDB) platform.

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Configuration Management, ServiceNow Discovery, Service Mapping, Common Service Data Model (CSDM), ITSM, ITOM, and enterprise architecture. This role will drive CMDB strategy, data quality, governance, and integration initiatives across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

1. CMDB Strategy & Architecture

• Define and maintain the enterprise CMDB architecture, strategy, and roadmap.
• Design scalable CMDB data models aligned with business and IT requirements.
• Establish CMDB governance frameworks, standards, and best practices.
• Lead CMDB transformation, modernization, and optimization initiatives.
• Align CMDB architecture with the Common Service Data Model (CSDM).

1. CMDB Design & Implementation

• Design and implement Configuration Item (CI) class structures, attributes, and relationships.
• Configure Identification and Reconciliation Engine (IRE) rules.
• Develop and maintain CI lifecycle management processes.
• Implement CMDB Health dashboards and data quality controls.
• Ensure compliance with CMDB governance policies and standards.

1. Discovery & Service Mapping

• Architect, implement, and optimize ServiceNow Discovery solutions.
• Design and implement Service Mapping for business-critical services.
• Integrate infrastructure, cloud, and application data sources into the CMDB.
• Develop automated CI population, discovery, and maintenance strategies.
• Ensure accurate mapping of application dependencies and service relationships.

1. Integrations

• Architect and implement integrations between ServiceNow and the following systems:
• Cloud platforms (AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform)
• IT monitoring and observability tools
• IT asset management systems
• DevOps and CI/CD tools
• Enterprise applications and external data sources
• Utilize IntegrationHub, REST APIs, SOAP APIs, and Service Graph Connectors as appropriate.
• Ensure accurate data synchronization, reconciliation, and consistency across integrated systems.

1. CMDB Governance & Data Quality

• Establish CMDB governance frameworks, councils, and operational processes.
• Define KPIs and metrics to measure CMDB health and data quality.
• Monitor and improve:
• Data completeness
• Data correctness and accuracy
• Policy and compliance adherence
• CI relationship integrity
• Lead CMDB data remediation, normalization, and cleanup initiatives.
• Establish continuous improvement processes for CMDB reliability and accuracy.

Required Qualifications

Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with ServiceNow CMDB architecture and implementation.
• Expertise in ServiceNow Discovery, Service Mapping, ITOM, and ITSM.
• Strong understanding of Common Service Data Model (CSDM).
• Experience with Identification and Reconciliation Engine (IRE).
• Experience with IntegrationHub and Service Graph Connectors.
• Knowledge of MID Servers and cloud discovery.
• Experience integrating ServiceNow with AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
• Proficiency in REST/SOAP APIs and enterprise integrations.
• Strong understanding of CMDB data modeling, CI relationships, and lifecycle management.
• Experience with JavaScript and ServiceNow scripting.
• Demonstrated experience in CMDB governance, health management, and data quality improvement.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.

Required Certifications

• ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA).
• ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist Discovery.
• ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist Service Mapping.
• ITIL 4 Foundation or higher.

Preferred Certification:

• ServiceNow Certified Technical Architect (CTA).

Ideal Candidate Profile

• 10+ years of overall ServiceNow experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on CMDB architecture and implementation experience.
• Proven ability to lead enterprise-level CMDB architecture, governance, and transformation initiatives.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and technical leadership skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
