Software Engineer, Back-End Focus

Kin is hiring a back-end software engineer to build products and features that power its homeowners insurance platform. The role involves developing Ruby on Rails applications, owning work from design through deployment, and collaborating with engineering and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities:

• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in Ruby on Rails
• Deliver stories, tasks, and full features from design through deployment
• Pair program with team members to solve problems and raise code quality
• Participate actively in Scrum ceremonies, including daily standups, sprint planning, and weekly retrospectives
• Collaborate with cross-functional team members to align technical work with product goals
• Bring subject-matter expertise to your team, helping guide peers through complex technical problems

Requirements:

• Track record of shipping small to medium size software projects
• Proficiency coding in Ruby, JavaScript, or TypeScript
• Experience operating within Agile/Scrum development environments
• Comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment with evolving priorities
• A fast learner, ready to bring prior experience to this role and continue developing on the job
