PGH Engineer II - III

Federal Express Corporation is hiring for PGH Engineer II and III openings, with placement based on business needs, qualifications, and relevant experience. The role analyzes operational and engineering data, identifies performance improvements, supports engineering and technology projects, and helps improve operations and control costs.

Responsibilities:

• Analyzes performance data within engineering
• Analyzes and documents existing processes. Identifies opportunities for improvement and recommends solutions to management
• Researches and analyzes technical or engineering related information independently. Presents improvement recommendations to management
• Prepares accurate expenditure proposals and/or cost justification analysis independently. Monitors expenditures to ensure spending is applied and within budget guidelines
• Formulates and presents document research, progress, and results to team members, internal customers, and senior management
• Applies project management fundamentals and concepts. Creates and publishes progress reports, meeting minutes, field communication memos, and presentations for management review
• Participates in Control Self Monitoring (CSM) and/or Business Control Self-Assessment (BCSA) process within area of responsibility
• Mentors and develops critical skill sets in lower level engineers
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Analyzes performance data within engineering. Utilizes engineering tools and software to analyze data and validate results. Formulates issues in a logical manner and arrives at a comprehensive result
• Researches, analyzes, and effectively consolidates technical or engineering related information and presents for management review
• Prepares, with management guidance, accurate expenditure proposals and/or cost justification analysis. Monitors expenditures to ensure spending is applied and within budget guidelines

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical or quantitative degree (e.g. mathematics) required
• Four (4) years experience required in technical area
• Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications
• Verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate with all levels of management
• Presentation skills necessary to facilitate training and/or deliver informational sessions to groups and/or individuals
• Time management and organizational skills necessary to manage multiple projects, appropriately prioritize workload, plan for resources to meet deadlines and goals, and respond to day-to-day functional needs
• Ability to anticipate and identify problems and use sound judgment and fact-based analysis to develop effective and efficient solutions
• Ability to mentor, coach and act as a knowledge resource to other employees
• Knowledge of project management concepts and project lifecycle
• Knowledge of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
• Knowledge of concepts related to construction and/or machine design
• Working knowledge of statistical programming language (e.g., SAS)
• Knowledge of a procurement lifecycle
• Technical knowledge of goods or services to be procured
• Knowledge of supply chain management
• Knowledge of interconnected systems in a manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of FedEx OT devices and security vulnerabilities
• Knowledge of Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and security vulnerabilities
• Knowledge of InfoSec requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical or quantitative degree (e.g. mathematics) required. Related experience may offset degree requirements and related education/degree may offset experience requirements
• Two (2) years experience required in technical area
• Working knowledge of PLC based automated systems, electrical and electronic test/troubleshooting systems, and motor control methods
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD software
• Basic SQL and query skills
• Advanced Excel skills
• Power BI or other dashboard development experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft tools, including PowerPoint, Excel, Forms, and Power Automate
• Strong verbal communication skills
• Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical teams, operations teams, and customers
• Experience querying and working within cloud data warehouse environments (Google Cloud Platform/BigQuery, Microsoft Azure, or AWS) to manage and analyze high-volume enterprise datasets
• Exposure to applied AI and automation workflows (e.g., AI-assisted analysis, Jupyter/Colab notebooks, or task-oriented agents) to streamline operational analysis
• Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), or carrier network dynamics, including parcel, LTL, and linehaul operations
• Preferred disciplines may be needed in the areas of:
• AUTOMATION & SYSTEMS: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field
• FACILITIES & MATERIAL HANDLING ENGINEERING: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, Architecture, or related
• FACILITIES & MATERIAL HANDLING PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field
• INDUSTRIAL ENGINEER & PROCESS: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or related field
• OPERATIONS RESEARCH, PLANNING & ANALYSIS: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related field
• OPERATIONS TECHNOLOGY: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
