Pricing & Network Design Manager

Paschall Truck Lines, Inc. is hiring a Pricing & Network Design Manager to develop and optimize transportation pricing strategies and network solutions. The role analyzes customer and lane profitability, models network and financial scenarios, and partners across Sales, Operations, Finance, Brokerage, and leadership to support profitable business decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Develop pricing strategies for new and existing customer opportunities based on lane characteristics, market conditions, freight profile, capacity requirements, and expected operating costs
• Analyze historical shipment data, revenue, cost, margin, miles, utilization, and service requirements to establish appropriate pricing
• Develop and maintain lane-level pricing models and rate recommendations
• Evaluate customer and lane profitability and identify opportunities to improve contribution margin
• Monitor market pricing trends and competitive positioning
• Support annual and periodic customer rate negotiations
• Identify pricing risks and recommend appropriate pricing adjustments
• Analyze customer freight networks to determine the most efficient transportation solution
• Evaluate origin/destination pairs, freight density, volume, frequency, miles, equipment requirements, and geographic concentration
• Identify opportunities to improve network balance, reduce empty miles, increase asset utilization, and improve driver productivity
• Model the impact of adding or removing customers, lanes, terminals, equipment, or capacity from the network
• Develop network scenarios and financial models to support strategic decisions
• Partner with Operations to validate network assumptions and ensure proposed solutions are operationally achievable
• Identify opportunities to utilize brokerage or third-party capacity when appropriate to supplement the asset-based network
• Partner with Sales and Network Solutions teams during the RFP/RFQ process
• Develop pricing and network solutions for prospective customer opportunities
• Analyze customer freight data and translate it into actionable pricing and operational recommendations
• Participate in customer presentations and business reviews when pricing or network strategy expertise is required
• Evaluate the financial and operational impact of customer-specific requirements
• Assist in developing proposals that balance customer service requirements with company profitability
• Develop financial models to evaluate potential business opportunities
• Analyze revenue per mile, cost per mile, contribution margin, operating ratio, empty miles, loaded miles, and equipment utilization
• Conduct sensitivity and scenario analysis to understand the financial impact of changing rates, volumes, fuel costs, utilization, and operating assumptions
• Partner with Finance to ensure pricing models accurately reflect company cost structures
• Monitor actual results against pricing assumptions and provide recommendations when performance varies from expectations
• Utilize TMS, transportation analytics, business intelligence, and other data systems to analyze network performance
• Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and analytical tools that provide visibility into pricing and network performance
• Leverage Excel, Power BI, SQL, or similar analytical tools to manipulate and interpret large transportation datasets
• Improve data-driven decision-making by identifying trends and developing meaningful performance metrics
• Partner with IT and Technology teams to improve pricing and network optimization tools

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in transportation pricing, network optimization, revenue management, transportation analytics, or a related discipline
• Strong understanding of the asset-based trucking industry and transportation economics
• Experience analyzing truckload freight, lanes, customer freight profiles, and transportation costs
• Strong analytical and financial modeling skills
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, data analysis, and financial modeling
• Ability to analyze large datasets and translate complex information into practical business recommendations
• Strong understanding of transportation operating costs and their impact on pricing
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Ability to work collaboratively across Sales, Operations, Finance, Brokerage, and Executive Leadership
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or related field preferred
• Experience with truckload transportation network design
• Experience with transportation RFP/RFQ pricing
• Experience with TMS and transportation optimization software
• Experience with Power BI, SQL, Python, or other analytical tools
• Experience developing transportation cost models
• Experience with customer profitability analysis
• Experience in an asset-based carrier with an integrated brokerage operation
• Knowledge of driver productivity, HOS, equipment utilization, and terminal/network operations
• Experience with strategic pricing or revenue management
