Lead, Software Development/Engineering

S&P OpCo, LLC is hiring a Lead, Software Development/Engineering to design, develop, and enhance end-of-day index calculation platforms for S&P Dow Jones Indices. The role contributes across the software development lifecycle and supports platform performance, reliability, integrations, and functionality.

Responsibilities:

• S&P OpCo, LLC seeks a Lead, Software Development/Engineering who will participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including coding, testing, debugging, and documentation
• Design, develop, and enhance end-of-day index calculation platforms for S&P Dow Jones Indices (SPDJI)
• Review application code to ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and maintainability requirements
• Contribute to new platform initiatives while providing ongoing support for existing index calculation applications
• Perform application and system performance tuning and troubleshoot performance or scalability issues
• Collaborate with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams to triage and resolve issues related to index calculation platforms
• Apply object-oriented programming principles and design patterns in application development
• Integrate internal applications with third-party and vendor software platforms as required
• Set up and maintain development environments and sandboxes for application development and testing
• Check in code changes to version control repositories and maintain proper configuration management practices
• Perform unit testing, identify defects, and implement solutions for code quality and stability
• Interface with relational databases to extract data, generate outputs, and build reports
• Work effectively with business users, customers, and cross-functional IT teams to gather requirements and support platform functionality

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related IT field plus five (5) years of experience in software engineering or a related occupation
• Java, J2EE, Java Messaging Service (JMS), and Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB)
• Advanced SQL and PL/SQL programming
• Big Data / Microservices
• Spark using Java and Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS)
• Advanced Python
• Infrastructure / CI/CD / DevOps / Ansible / Fortify / Jenkins
• AWS Cloud Services EC2, EMR, Lambda, S3, and Glue
