Data & Statistical Reporting Analyst

Preferred Mutual Insurance Company seeks a Data & Statistical Reporting Analyst to collect, analyze, and interpret data and statistics. The role prepares management reports, identifies trends, and supports regulatory reporting, data quality, and business initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Manage preparation, reconciliation, and submission of statistical data files to external bureaus and regulators (i.e ISO, AAIS, CAR,)
• Prepare submission of regulatory data calls
• Monitor bureau rejections and coordinate corrective actions with internal stakeholders
• Support special projects related to data quality, compliance, and system upgrades
• Support or perform testing of system changes or migrations that affect reporting/data (including user acceptance testing, validation of new data flows)
• Stay current on regulatory reporting developments and help ensure the organization remains compliant
• Collect, clean, and analyze structured and unstructured data from multiple data sources to support business operations and strategic initiatives
• Create and maintain source to target mapping documents between the layers of the data warehouse, feeds, reports, and source systems
• Create, run and modify complex SQL queries to perform data analysis on tables, loads, cubes, reports and feeds
• Work with Developers, Testers, EPMO and Business Stakeholders to ensure that data requirements are documented and delivered
• Write data level business requirements including complex calculations
• Create and maintain data dictionaries

Requirements:

• Ability to profile new datasets, identify patterns, anomalies, and relationships
• Skilled in decomposing business questions into structured analytical tasks
• Uses critical thinking to validate results and challenge assumptions
• Working knowledge of P&C insurance functions including underwriting, claims, billing, operations, actuary, sales, and finance
• Understanding of key insurance metrics: exposures, written premium, earned premium, losses, reserves, etc
• Works effectively in Agile teams, participating in sprint planning, standups, refinements, and retrospectives
• Writes and refines user stories with clear acceptance criteria
• Collaborates within cross-functional teams
• Adapts to changing priorities and iterative delivery cycles
• Uses Agile tools (Azure DevOps, Jira, etc.) for task tracking and backlog management
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology or a related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience
• 3+ years of experience in project management, data analysis, or a related field
• Insurance industry experience required
• Proficiency in SQL for database querying
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Strong documentation and data storytelling skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic, Agile environment
• Curious, proactive, and driven by data accuracy and business impact
• Ability to organize workload to ensure timely reporting requirements
• Strong understanding of Property & Casualty insurance coverage types and policy structures, including both personal and commercial lines preferred
