Principal Engineer – GPU Software Systems

Next Creation is recruiting for an unnamed client’s GPU Software team. The Principal Engineer will set technical direction for GPU driver development, validation, and delivery, while building scalable CI/CD and validation workflows and resolving cross-stack issues with internal teams and external partners.

Responsibilities:

• We are seeking a Principal Engineer to join our client GPU Software team and own the technical direction for how GPU device drivers are developed, validated, and delivered across GPU generations
• In this hands-on individual contributor role, you will architect, develop, and debug device drivers for premium mobile GPU IP while defining the CI/CD and validation architecture that sustains driver quality and performance as the software scales
• You drive cross-collaboration with hardware engineering, system architecture, and software teams, as well as external partners, to resolve complex cross-stack issues and reduce manual processes across the GPU software organization
• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality device drivers for GPU products, including kernel-mode drivers, user-mode drivers, and firmware. Optimize performance and power efficiency based on GPU architecture across Linux and Android
• Lead new silicon bring-up on emulation platforms and debug complex KMD issues across the software stack, working with internal teams and external partners to drive fast resolution
• Architect and scale continuous build, test, and integration infrastructure, integrating driver team builds and workflows into CI/CD pipelines
• Define the approach to automated regression analysis and bisection, and design test software components for test definition, execution, and results reporting
• Identify and automate manual processes across driver and validation workflows, including Jira integration for bug tracking and reporting, to improve engineering efficiency

Requirements:

• 15+ years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, or 13+ years of experience with a Master's Degree, or 11+ years of experience with a Ph.D
• 11+ years of experience in software engineering using C, C++, and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash)
• Strong experience with device driver development frameworks such as Linux Kernel or Android Driver Framework, and technical expertise in the Linux DRM subsystem
• Hands-on experience with new silicon bring-ups on emulation platforms and debugging complex KMD issues using software stack knowledge and debugging tools
• Deep knowledge of GPU architecture, including graphics rendering, compute, and memory management, and a strong understanding of operating system concepts, including process management, memory management, and interrupt handling
• Proven experience designing and testing scalable CI/CD and test infrastructure
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced, global team environment
