Data Engineer Analyst

The North Carolina Department of Revenue is seeking a Data Engineer Analyst to support its Business Intelligence initiatives. The role supports data analysis and reporting through ETL, data quality and cleansing, application and report development, and operational support.

Responsibilities:

• The Data Engineer Analyst work with a team of internal and external IT professionals to support customer business intelligence and data analysis initiatives through data loads using ETL processes, data quality analysis, data cleansing, application development, report development, and software installation and configuration
• The Data Engineer Analyst's primary function is to support and perform application development in a diverse environment of applications that include SAS, SQL, PL/SQL, JAVA, and UNIX/AIX scripting
• The position will participate in end-to-end customer requirements gathering, development and implementation, including identifying data input, data analysis and reporting needs as well as processing and exploring system data
• The position will translate business requirements into the appropriate solution, develop the solution, develop reports, and present reports to customers
• The position will create and execute test scripts and document findings
• The position will provide daily and nightly (during Tax Season) operational support to customers and other IT initiatives as needed

Requirements:

• Knowledge of programming languages including SQL, PL/SQL, and SAS
• Experience with extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) data
• Demonstrated ability to develop ad hoc reports using SQL and PL/SQL
• Development and support experience in SAS and Windows/Unix environments
• Experience working with systems processing event-based logs, user logs, and debugging complex systems
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution, or Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in business application consulting or development, or High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of experience in business application consulting or development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
