Junior Data Analyst

Akytech Consulting LLC is seeking a Junior Data Analyst to support a Federal Aviation Administration program. The role analyzes data, develops reports and dashboards, and provides actionable insights to support decision-making.

Responsibilities:

• Work with executives, business leaders, and program stakeholders to identify opportunities for operational and process improvements
• Develop, maintain, and distribute reports and dashboards for internal teams and government customers
• Collaborate with team members to collect, validate, organize, and analyze data
• Create graphs, dashboards, infographics, and other visualizations to communicate findings effectively
• Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate business performance and the effectiveness of decisions
• Organize and structure large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable information
• Work collaboratively with analysts, developers, and other stakeholders to process information and address reporting requirements
• Prepare presentations, reports, and recommendations based on data analysis and findings
• Investigate data discrepancies, troubleshoot reporting issues, and support improvements to existing reporting solutions
• Maintain clear documentation of assigned tasks, progress, technical issues, and deliverables
• Participate in team meetings, provide timely status updates, and communicate risks or obstacles that could affect delivery schedules
• Support changing customer priorities while maintaining accountability for assigned work and deadlines

Requirements:

• The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, experience working with business intelligence and reporting tools, and the ability to communicate technical findings to both technical and nontechnical audiences
• This position requires an individual who can work independently, manage changing priorities, and consistently communicate progress, risks, and deliverables to project leadership
• Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered
• 1–3 years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, reporting, or a related discipline
• Working knowledge of SQL for querying, filtering, and analyzing data
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, formulas, and reporting
• Experience developing reports or dashboards using Tableau, Power BI, or comparable business intelligence tools
• Ability to analyze datasets, identify trends, and translate findings into actionable recommendations
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical findings to nontechnical stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and provide consistent status reporting
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining regular communication with project leadership
• Ability to satisfy applicable federal government background investigation and access requirements

• Experience supporting federal government programs, preferably within the FAA or Department of Transportation
• Hands-on experience with Tableau dashboard development, maintenance, and troubleshooting
• Experience with Power BI, including data modeling and report development
• Experience investigating SQL queries, data quality issues, and reporting discrepancies
• Familiarity with Agile or Kanban work management practices and Jira
• Experience supporting legacy reporting applications and data modernization initiatives
• Understanding of data visualization best practices and KPI development
• Experience working directly with government stakeholders to clarify requirements and establish realistic delivery expectations
