Curtainwall/Fenestration Structural Engineer

Architectural Wall Systems, Inc. (AWSI) is hiring a Curtainwall/Fenestration Structural Engineer to provide structural engineering and shop drawing support for architectural glazing systems. The role performs structural calculations and analyses, coordinates with project teams and clients, and manages engineering assignments.

Responsibilities:

• Perform structural calculations for curtainwall, storefront, window wall, entrances, and related fenestration systems
• Analyze aluminum framing members, including mullions, horizontals, jambs, head/sill members, reinforcing members, and other system components
• Perform framing, anchor, connection, embed, and fastener checks
• Determine and apply project-specific wind, seismic, dead, live, thermal, and building-movement requirements
• Review architectural, structural, and shop drawings to understand project scope and engineering requirements
• Prepare complete structural calculation packages
• Develop and review structural models, including RISA 3D models where appropriate
• Coordinate engineering requirements and drawing revisions with drafting and project teams
• Communicate with clients regarding technical questions, design assumptions, and project requirements
• Manage assigned projects, schedules, and deadlines
• Identify unusual or nonstandard conditions and work with senior engineering staff to develop appropriate solutions

Requirements:

• This position requires a minimum of 3 years of direct curtainwall/fenestration engineering experience
• Candidates must currently reside and perform their work within the United States
• 3+ years of direct curtainwall/fenestration structural engineering experience required
• Demonstrated experience performing structural calculations for aluminum curtainwall, storefront, window wall, punched openings, or similar glazed framing systems
• Working knowledge of aluminum framing systems and typical curtainwall/fenestration components
• Experience evaluating anchors, fasteners, clips, brackets, embeds, and similar connection systems
• Working knowledge of the International Building Code and ASCE 7 as applied to components and cladding
• Understanding of wind loading, seismic requirements, thermal movement, live-load movement, and building movement as they apply to curtainwall and fenestration systems
• Ability to interpret architectural and structural construction documents and coordinate engineering requirements with shop drawings
• Experience with structural-analysis software and engineering calculation tools
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple active projects and deadlines in a remote-work environment
• Must currently reside and work within the United States
• Reside and perform their work within the United States
• Experience with major curtainwall/fenestration manufacturers and systems such as Kawneer, OBE, YKK AP, EFCO, Tubelite, ES Windows, or comparable systems
• Experience with both stick-built and unitized curtain wall systems
• Experience with RISA 3D, Hilti PROFIS, CBeam, Excel-based engineering tools, or similar software
• Experience coordinating structural calculations with shop drawings
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
