Perform technical tasks in structural engineering, including determining design criteria, preparing engineering calculations and technical design, performing computer analysis, developing drawing layouts and construction details
Conduct design studies, attend existing facilities for data collection and assessments, attend construction site for field inspection reviews, and draft reports
Manage small and medium sized projects, ensuring they stay within budget and schedule, and meet client requirements
Implement relevant codes, standards, practices, and procedures applicable to the project
Coordinate with other engineers, designers, drafts, contractors, vendors, and clients
Provide design work to support drafters and designers
Check designs and drawings
Ensure engineering deliverables are technically accurate, complete, and in compliance
Requirements
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Structural (Civil) Engineering from an accredited university
Registered, or eligible to register, as a Professional Engineer with ‘Engineers and Geoscientists of BC’
Minimum 5 years of structural engineering experience in heavy industry sectors, particularly mining, within Canada
Alternatively, minimum 7 years of experience in commercial or light industry sectors within Canada
Experience and proficiency in engineering to Canadian building codes and standards, including: NBCC, CSA/S16, CSA/A23, and CSA/S304
Strong professional standards, with proficiency in structural theory and practice
Organizational skills, with effective communication and coordination with team
Proficient communication in oral English, written presentation, technical sketching
Multi-tasking with ability to work to schedules and budgets
Able to travel to client sites for data collection and construction review
