About this role
Role Overview
Serve as the primary liaison to the Aviso Managed Asset Program (MAP) team, supporting both the initiation of new manager searches and the ongoing oversight of existing products and investment managers
Responsible for overseeing sub-advisors and improving the MAP program’s oversight process. Ensure all 3rd party strategies deliver consistent alpha generation potential while taking appropriate risks. The oversight process includes monthly monitoring, quarterly performance attribution review and annual due diligence meetings
Conduct ongoing manager research to review managers/strategies and keep up-to-date the trend in institutional investment industry for opportunities to upgrade strategy or launch new products
Conduct research and searches for new proposed MAP products
Monitor and evaluate the performance of platform products, identifying opportunities for optimization and innovation
Act as a subject matter expert on MAP products, providing investment insights and guidance to internal stakeholders and external partners. Present investment strategies and performance updates to MAP clients and the MAP sales team, ensuring clarity, confidence, and alignment with client objectives Assist in the production of monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc reporting, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and strategic value for both internal and external audiences
Review and refine quarterly manager commentaries and semi-annual MRFP commentaries for sub-advised strategies
Assist in producing in-depth research reports and presenting research findings to other members of the team
Provide actionable insights and recommendations to senior leadership based on manager performance and market conditions
Requirements
University Degree in Business, science, math or any quantitative fields.
CFA charter holder
Any additional finance related professional designation is an asset (CAIA, CPA, etc.)
Master’s degree in business, finance or one that utilizes statistical models (Economics, Math, etc.) is an asset
8-10 years’ overall work investment industry work experience in asset management, wealth management or investment consulting
5-10 years’ experience related to external manager research, oversight and evaluation
Proven track record of evaluating and managing relationships with external investment managers
Advanced skills or has the ability to very quickly learn analytical tools such as eVestment, Morningstar Direct, Bloomberg, Refinitiv and Factset
Fluent communication skills (oral and written) in English are required and bilingual skills in French are an Asset
Experience in researching global institutional investment strategies and making actionable recommendations
Strong understanding of wealth management platforms, investment products, and portfolio construction
Experience working with large amounts of data or quantitative investment techniques is an asset
Ability to work independently but also interactively within a team-oriented environment
Advanced proficiency in Excel and MS Office, with strong data analysis and presentation capabilities
