Role Overview
Design electrical systems for federal buildings, upgrade power distribution networks, and ensure compliance with safety codes and environmental regulations.
Implement renewable energy initiatives while improving overall energy efficiency for federal facilities.
Conduct site surveys and troubleshoot electrical installations to ensure reliability and performance.
Prepare detailed design drawings, technical specifications, project status reports, manuals, and compliance documentation.
Ensure all designs and installations align with the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA standards, federal agency requirements, and environmental regulations.
Plan and manage project budgets, schedules, and proposals while coordinating teams across federal agency projects.
Mentor junior staff.
Assist in the recruiting for the federal team.
Represent Olsson in client meetings and site visits, providing expert guidance from concept through construction and ensuring client satisfaction.
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical design, ideally with federal clients.
Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD and other relevant design software.
Deep understanding of DoD, VA, and federal design standards and processes.
Exceptional communication skills and proven ability to coordinate complex projects.
