About this role
Role Overview
Lead and manage complex healthcare transactions, including acquisitions, joint ventures, clinical integrations, and strategic partnerships
Direct legal strategy for multi-party negotiations involving health system leadership, external partners, and outside counsel
Draft, review, and negotiate high-impact agreements critical to DUHS’s clinical and strategic objectives
Advise executive leadership on corporate governance, entity formation, nonprofit compliance, and organizational structuring
Serve as a trusted legal advisor on healthcare regulatory and transactional issues and mentor other attorneys as needed
Requirements
Juris Doctor (JD) degree
Licensed to practice law in the State of North Carolina or ability to become licensed within 12 months of employment
At least 12+ years of progressively responsible legal experience, with substantial experience in healthcare transactions and regulatory compliance
Extensive experience leading major healthcare transactions, including deal strategy, negotiation, due diligence, risk analysis, and closing
Experience advising senior executives and institutional leaders in a complex academic medical center or health system environment
Working knowledge of federal and state healthcare regulatory frameworks, including Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, Civil Monetary Penalties, HIPAA, and value-based arrangements
