Interprets for patients without adding, omitting or editing what the patient or provider has communicated.
Assists with walk-ins, pt. triage, registration, referrals and all other aspects of patient visit as needed.
Helps providers to understand cultural differences, verbal and nonverbal, to facilitate communication between provider and patient and to assure quality health care.
Accurately translates medical information in writing for health center staff.
Assesses patients’ needs and provides advocacy information and referrals to other community agencies as needed.
Completes patient care documentation or other health center required reports in an accurate and timely manner.
Participates in PI projects relevant to case management and interpreter services duties.
Any and all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum of two years college or Associates degree in a related field required.
Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
Medical Interpreter training required.
Two years relevant work or volunteer experience required.
Certification as Medical Interpreter required or must earn within 6 months of date of hire.
Bilingual in English and another language appropriate to FHCW patient population required.
Must have adequate reading/writing skills, including medical terminology, in both languages
