Provide day-to-day legal advice on employment-related matters, including hiring, discipline, termination, wage and hour compliance, leaves of absence, accommodations, and workplace investigations
Draft, review, and update employment-related policies, handbooks, offer letters, separation agreements, and restrictive covenants
Support HR in employee relations issues and internal investigations
Monitor and advise on compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
Manage and oversee employment and general commercial litigation, including working with outside counsel
Develop litigation strategy, evaluate risk, and manage budgets and timelines
Assist with pre-litigation disputes, demand letters, subpoenas, and regulatory inquiries
Support discovery efforts, including document collection, review, and production
Develop, implement, and manage litigation hold procedures
Issue and track litigation hold notices and ensure compliance across the organization
Coordinate with IT, HR, and business units to preserve relevant documents and electronically stored information (ESI)
Assist in maintaining and improving records retention policies
Provide legal oversight for employment-based immigration matters (e.g., H-1B and employment authorization issues), primarily through coordination with outside immigration counsel
Advise HR and management on immigration compliance, work authorization, and related employment issues
Support policy development related to global mobility and immigration compliance
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HR, Commercial, Finance, Compliance, and Operations
Assist with legal research and special projects as needed
Contribute to process improvements and scalable legal solutions
Requirements
Juris Doctor (JD) from a top-tier law school
Active license and good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
12+ years of experience in employment law, litigation, or a combination of law firm and in-house experience
Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws
Experience managing litigation and working with outside counsel
Familiarity with litigation holds, e-discovery, and records management practices
Exposure to employment-based immigration matters preferred
Excellent judgment, communication, and organizational skills
