Role Overview
- Support the preparation of CAD drawings for real municipal infrastructure projects, including watermain, sanitary, stormwater, roads, and grading
- Create and update plans, profiles, cross-sections, details, schedules, and quantity take-offs
- Learn how projects come together by coordinating with designers, engineers, project managers, and CAD staff
- Apply review comments and complete basic drawing checks to understand quality and design standards
- Assist with quantity take-offs and cost estimating to build commercial and technical awareness
- Help organize drawings and project files using professional documentation workflows
- Work closely with senior team members to turn engineering concepts into clear, buildable drawings
- Participate in team meetings and gain exposure to real project discussions and decision-making
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, or related post-secondary program (co-op or WIL eligible)
- Interest in learning AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Strong computer skills, including Excel and Word; eager to learn CAD standards
- Interest in municipal infrastructure and how engineering impacts communities
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and a willingness to learn
- Comfortable communicating in a team environment, both verbally and in writing
- Able to balance multiple tasks and deadlines with support from senior staff
- Holds a valid Ontario driver’s license and has access to a vehicle for site visits and meetings
