Inpatient Health Record Coder III

Role Overview

• Responsible for training new staff on systems used for coding
• Resource for all coding staff to ensure accurate coding of diagnoses and operative procedures for statistical, reimbursement, and OSHPD purposes
• Abstracting and analyzing all discharged and/or outpatient surgery records

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Five (5) years of coding experience in an acute care facility using ICD-10-CM and CPT coding and/or DRG assignment is required.
• Knowledge and experience with medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and general office practices, as well as familiarity with state and federal laws governing the release of medical information is required.
• RHIA, RHIT or CCS certification is required.
