Leads the shift or area by assigning, monitoring, and reviewing progress and accuracy of technician work
Acts as a resource to team members and provides day-to-day direction including addressing urgent customer and team member needs
Provides guidance on more complex issues and escalates concerns and resource needs to department leadership as appropriate
Identifies quality improvement opportunities and collaborates with site leaders to design and implement quality improvement initiatives
Leads teams to identify best practices support implementations
Works in a flexible manner to ensure that department resources are appropriately distributed and that a safe environment is maintained at all times
Assumes duties for other technicians as needs arise
Serves as a role model for safe, effective, and efficient care and as a liaison between technician team and department leadership
Generates appropriate reports to ensure that productivity, financial, legal, regulatory, and accreditation needs are being met on each shift
Follows up when gaps are identified and promptly escalates concerns
Participates in the development and implementation of training materials and programs
Trains other team members and helps ensure that orientation, training, education and competency are complete and documented
Ensures that department documentation is accurate and satisfies all legal, regulatory, and accrediting bodies
Addresses gaps in documentation and escalates concerns to department leaders promptly
Actively takes part in sharing information in department huddles and team member meetings
Collaborates with department leadership to ensure updates and changes are effectively communicated to all team members
Identifies opportunities to improve team member engagement and culture of safety in the department
Assists with human resource responsibilities which may include interviewing, selection, development, conflict resolution, and engagement
Assists in interpreting policy and procedures and updates staff on changes
Holds team members accountable to policy and procedure
Requirements
Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) issued by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board, or Pharmacy Technician Certified (CPhT) issued by the National Healthcare Association
High School Graduate
Typically requires 5 years of experience in a hospital technician role
Good mathematics skills
