Proactively assist with the accounting and monitoring of $300M of Leidos inventory held across dozens of domestic and international locations
Support the accounting close process, including preparing and recording of Inventory journal entries, performing analysis, and completion of Inventory account reconciliations
Collaborate with finance and operational stakeholders with the monthly accrual process, ensuring the accruals are sufficiently supported for audit purposes and properly recorded in the ledger
Respond timely and professionally to the inquiries from finance and other cross-functional teams
Preparation of Lower Cost Net Realizable Value (LCNRV) analysis
Review of Excess Inventory and Slow-Moving Inventory Analysis
Help review and participate in Inventory Counts
Support Management Test Counts and other Inventory oversight functions
Support ad hoc requests and projects within Operational Accounting and from other stakeholders, such as finance, internal audit, external audit, government compliance, etc.
Prepare periodic account reconciliations related to inventory accounts
Analyze, describe and evaluate certain key account balances and fluctuations
Support internal/external auditors and the Leidos Strategic Regulatory Compliance team on all inventory questions
Interface with corporate departments (e.g. FP&A, Corporate Consolidations, Technical Accounting, Intercompany Accounting, Lease Accounting, and Corporate Tax) as needed
Respond timely and professionally to all ad hoc inventory inquiries
Ensure compliance with relevant Leidos accounting policies, SOX, FAR and DCAA requirements
Training our customers and other Leidos teams on Inventory procedures, policy, and best practices
Monthly close process, including posting entries and closing the Inventory ledger
Escalate unresolved issues to direct supervisor
Participate in the identification and implementation of automation opportunities and process improvements, including Robotics Process Automation, to optimize the monthly close process and reduce manual efforts
Willingness to volunteer and seek out projects and challenges that will help our customers internally and externally, and also help mitigate risks to Leidos
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting and 2+ years of experience
Knowledgeable of basic accounting principles, specifically Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
Adaptable to a flexible work schedule to accommodate additional hours during surge periods to support the accounting close process
Self-motivated and willing to independently study concepts and policies with the goal of shortening the learning curve
Experience with accounting software (Costpoint preferred)
At least 3 years of relevant accounting experience
Knowledge of internal controls and basic audit procedures
Prior inventory experience and/or experience with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements preferred
Familiarity with report writing (sequel) or Power BI Dashboard Development including DAX
