Role Overview
- Take pride in developing high-quality civil and structural designs for new constructions, renewals, maintenance, and assessments
- Collaborate with both national and international design teams, utilizing your experience to create positive, sustainable impacts on society and the environment
- Use analytical skills to derive potential solutions to engineering problems and engineering judgement to appraise different options and recommend the most suitable option
- Undertake technical work independently, including the production of high-quality design documentation including sketches, drawings, 3D BIM deliverables, analysis models, calculations, reports and specifications
- Provide guidance and support for more junior members of staff
- Support on bids, tenders and winning work.
Requirements
- A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related discipline
- Near Chartered/Chartered status and membership of the ICE or IStructE
- Experience of working on projects with key clients such as Transport Scotland and National Highways
- Good understanding of relevant design standards (e.g. Eurocodes, DMRB, MCHW and Network Rail standards)
- Practical knowledge and experience of bridge design, maintenance and assessment
- Experience of structural analysis software packages such as LUSAS, MIDAS and Autodesk Structural Bridge Design
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to converse with a wide range of clients, stakeholders and colleagues across a number of engineering disciplines.
