Role Overview
- Interpret legal proceedings for non-English speaking or hearing-impaired persons
- Interpret the spoken or written word from a source language to a target language
- Translate court evidence to a target language
- Testify as an expert witness regarding the accuracy of translated documents or tapes
- Collect statistical data
Requirements
- Must possess a valid certification as a certified court interpreter
- Two years of court/legal-related experience, and/or experience being a translator (Spanish preferred) or ASL
- Possess a bachelor’s degree in English, the source language, or a closely related field
