About this role
Role Overview
Own the end-to-end processing of [weekly/bi-weekly] payroll, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness for all employees.
Review payroll data, audits, and reconciliations to proactively identify and resolve discrepancies.
Manage payroll adjustments, bonuses, commissions, retro pay, and special payroll runs as needed.
Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related questions, providing clear, empathetic, and timely support.
Explain payroll, deductions, and tax-related topics in an accessible and approachable way.
Handle sensitive payroll matters with the highest degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
Maintain deep knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations to ensure full compliance.
Monitor and apply changes in labor laws, tax regulations, and payroll best practices.
Support audits, reporting, and internal controls related to payroll and compliance.
Partner closely with People Ops and Finance to ensure seamless integration between payroll, benefits administration, and HR systems.
Manage payroll-related benefits deductions and contributions, including health benefits, retirement plans, and leave programs.
Ensure accurate data flow across systems such as UKG Pro, BambooHR, and other payroll or HR platforms.
Manage the payroll components of onboarding, including setting up new hires, tax elections, and direct deposits.
Process final payroll and offboarding transactions with care, accuracy, and timeliness.
Continuously evaluate payroll processes and workflows to identify opportunities for automation, efficiency, and improved employee experience.
Contribute to documentation, training, and system enhancements that elevate payroll operations across the organization.
Requirements
3–7 years of experience in payroll, preferably within a People Operations or HR environment.
Expert-level proficiency in UKG Pro and Excel
Strong knowledge of FLSA, federal and state tax regulations, and multi-state payroll practices.
Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive topics with empathy and discretion.
Proactive problem-solver who values continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Ability to pass background and credit checks.
