Manage and provide a wide range of political, operational, and constituency services to support the councillor and their priorities.
Support effective internal and external relationships.
Manage constituent casework and related file responsibilities.
Coordinate events and projects.
Provide support for media and communications.
Represent the councillor in interactions with residents, stakeholders, and municipal staff.
Requirements
Post-secondary diploma required.
University degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of five years' experience providing administrative and communications support; required.
Experience in the political public sector or a similarly fast-paced environment is an asset.
Experience supporting an elected official is an asset.
Valid Ontario Class G driver's licence, or provincial equivalent, with no more than six demerit points.
Working knowledge of the mandate, structure, and protocols of City Council and its committees, and the ability to apply this knowledge in a councillor's office.
Understanding of the councillor's role within municipal administration, including policy initiatives and relevant committee responsibilities.
Sufficient knowledge of the City's operations, administrative structure, services, and policies to effectively manage constituent files and support the preparation of City Council and committee materials.
Awareness of the demographic context of the councillor's ward, including current initiatives, priorities, and community issues, and the ability to engage effectively with residents and stakeholders.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and common office systems, with the ability to quickly learn and use additional digital tools such as SharePoint, communications platforms, and emerging technologies.
