Role Overview
responsible for the daily programming of an Inclusive Recreation unit camp
program adaptation, intervention and collaboration with camp staff
ensure inclusion and a supportive recreation environment for special needs pre-school/children and youth registered in camps
provide ongoing integration
Work is performed in accordance with related legislation, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Requirements
minimum age of 16 years is required for this Summer Student job
Post-Secondary Student (completion of first year college or university)
Recreation and Leisure, Psychology, Sociology, DSW, etc.
Student must be returning to school in the fall
Minimum of 8 months but less than 1 year of related experience is required
Current Standard First Aid, CPR-C and AED certificates
AODA Accessibility/IASR Training
Crisis Prevention/Intervention training certificate
Alternative Communication Systems (ASL
American Sign Language) training is desirable
Ergonomic Lifts and Transfers training is an asset
Must possess the training, experience and knowledge to organize the work and its performance
Must be familiar with applicable health and safety legislation, have knowledge of any potential or actual danger to health or safety in the workplace, and have knowledge of appropriate actions to be taken in order to ensure the health and safety of staff in accordance with applicable legislation and City policies and procedures.
