Conducts focused surveillance for healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and prepares reports.
Makes recommendations and interprets department policies and procedures.
Interacts with physicians, nurses, and other staff as a consultant.
Enters data into computer, prepares reports, and conducts analytical studies.
Initiates epidemiological investigations of significant clusters of infections.
Assists with continuing infection control education and in-service programs.
Reviews and assists with hospital policies related to infection control.
Requirements
Requires a current RN license with BSN preferred, OR Masters in Public Health (MPH), OR certified medical technologist, OR a bachelor's degree in healthcare related field.
Must have a minimum of two years clinical experience in a hospital setting or disease surveillance experience in a public health setting.
Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral, and BUMG, BUMCT, or BUMCS in a Behavioral Health clinical setting that serves children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.
An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.
APIC training course or equivalent desired.
Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is preferred.
Computer skills, research and basic statistical knowledge is preferred.
