About this role
Role Overview
Take needed actions for all activities related to the client’s content fact sheets, thematic campaigns, and F landing page content.
Ensure 508 compliance for all postings.
Supports F’s audio-visual engagement by producing compelling and informative short videos, graphics, and infographics for use on social media platforms and for events to complement the client’s media content and engagement, and to support overall messaging strategies.
Use their technical skills to produce live and recorded in-person videos, including B roll, of F leadership, advisors, events, or material for themed content.
Work with the office in planning and conducting online engagement such as livestreamed interviews and outreach events featuring subject matter experts and leadership, from concept and creation of preparatory materials to promotional efforts and technical hosting.
Partner with client stakeholders overseas to engage digitally with foreign audiences who participate in embassy-associated groups at post while F principals are on travel or via digital interactive outreach.
Advise the office on messaging strategies that could achieve greater impact in short
and long-term strategic communications planning.
Contribute to messaging campaign planning from conception to publication, including securing necessary permissions and clearances.
Serve as a liaison to internal client offices and advise them on public diplomacy opportunities involving videos and graphics.
Maintain effective relationships with and serve as a liaison to the International Visitor's Leadership Program.
Must be able to translate complex foreign policy into easily understandable designs to advance foreign assistance, humanitarian affairs, and religious freedom around the globe.
On a daily basis, contribute to oversight of the team’s shared mailbox.
Serve as regular backup and support to team members working in other areas of public engagement.
Contribute to the development of strategic planning documents.
Draft and finalize digital content, including social media campaigns, social media toolkits, and video scripts, including cross-cutting F.
Requirements
Have knowledge of U.S. foreign affairs/policy, especially pertaining to foreign assistance.
Have knowledge of the Department of State policies and procedures.
Have knowledge of communications and public relations theories and best practices.
Have knowledge of documentaries, podcasts, and other story-telling approaches.
Extensive technical knowledge of platforms and best practices for maintaining online presences, including internet websites and social media.
Experience hosting events on interactive virtual platforms.
Secret Clerance is required.
Must be able to pass a background check.
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate in a clear, professional, and articulate manner.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with high-level attention to detail.
Proven ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast past environment with changing priorities; adaptable to change and a quick learner.
Must be self-motivated and able to work well independently as well as on a multi-functional team.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
Proficient in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Videography skills include camera operation, specifically the ability to set up and tear down equipment, clean and disassemble it, and calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair it (small repairs).
Familiar with lighting, sound production (audio recorders, microphones, etc.), and using props in makeshift environments (i.e. not in a studio), and be able to edit film and sound, and make video clips using raw footage, other footage, photographs, animation, and special effects.
Graphic design skills, including computer graphics, photographic, infographics, video graphics, and special effects.
Understand social media requirements and restrictions for content including images, photographs, graphics, and videos and recommend necessary changes to optimize content.
Must be able to adjust sizes, pixel requirements, etc. to maximize the visual effectiveness of products on various social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube, among others.
Be familiar with virtual platforms Zoom for Government, Microsoft Teams, Google Meets, and/or Webex, and able to host and run large meetings and webinars, including the facilitation of breakout rooms.
Ideally can create graphics to overlay onto these platforms for sleekly designed events, including lower thirds, and intro graphics and music.
The ability to curate content for F online properties by actively monitoring the development of foreign assistance policies and global digital communications in this field.
The ability to graphically design original artwork, images, and infographics for posting online.
Quantitative analysis skills to conduct audience segmentation and assess messaging effectiveness.
Knowledge and experience in optical character recognition to convert PDFs to editable and usable Word documents for Senior managers.
The ability to develop original content for F online properties and other public for a using public affairs content, policy knowledge, and best practices for online communications.
Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility regulations and policies; the ability to ensure 508 compliance of materials posted to the internet; and the ability to educate partners about 508 accessibility requirements.
