Uses knowledge of relevant structural engineering of transportation structures
Preparing design calculations, drawings, and details for various transportation projects
Design of new structures and rehabilitation of existing structures
Review of shop drawings produced by fabricators and detailers, calculations performed by other engineers, coordinate with design team, site visits to address site issues and verify existing conditions, respond to request for information, oversee testing and monitoring programs
Assist with client coordination including coordinating deliveries, submittals, meeting, review comments etc. Clients include public agencies and private clients
Working with other structural staff and departments to complete projects
Requirements
Registered as a Professional Engineer in the State of California
Proficient in steel, masonry, timber and concrete (incl. precast and prestressed) design
Proficiency in Structural Analysis with SAP 2000, CsiBridge, Midas or similar software
Strong background preparing bridge design calculations and plans per Caltrans Standards
Thorough understanding of design codes and agency standards such as AASHTO, Caltrans, AREMA, and CBC
Previous experience on California High Speed Rail Projects is a plus
Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree highly desired
10 years’ experience in the structural design for bridges and infrastructure with CalTrans experience
High speed rail experience preferred
