Design and plan tailings storage facilities (TSF), waste rock storage facilities (WRSF) and water management systems, including dams and containment structures in compliance with applicable standards.
Conduct risk assessments, safety reviews and dam inspections, analyze structural performance and recommend optimizations.
Contribute to the development of closure and reclamation plans in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Oversee the production and review of technical documentation, provide support to field teams and collaborate closely with related disciplines.
Prepare and contribute to the production of comprehensive, rigorous, high-quality engineering reports that meet technical and regulatory requirements.
Produce technical deliverables tailored to study phases (Concept, Preliminary Economic Assessment [PEA], Pre-Feasibility Study [PFS], Feasibility Study [FS] and detailed engineering).
Draft technical memos, design criteria and detailed stability analyses, ensuring clarity, consistency and traceability of assumptions and results.
Requirements
Master’s degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering or a related discipline; a PhD in geotechnical engineering is considered a strong asset.
Minimum of 10 years in mining consulting engineering, with extensive expertise in mine tailings management.
Strong experience in the design, operation and management of tailings storage facilities (TSFs), including water management and geotechnical characterization of mine materials.
Active member of the OIQ (Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec), with proficiency in the GISTM (Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management) and guidance documents from the CDA (Canadian Dam Association) and the MAC (Mining Association of Canada).
Excellent communication skills in French and English, with strong mentoring abilities and effectiveness in multidisciplinary, multicultural teams.
Critical, analytical and solution-focused mindset, with a demonstrated ability to make timely, well-informed technical decisions.
Direct experience in the mining or natural resources industry, including involvement in closure and site rehabilitation projects.
Holding additional professional certifications, notably in project management (e.g., PMP).
