Monitor equipment performance and make improvement recommendations
Apply data analysis techniques to develop engineering solutions for repetitive failures and other problems that adversely affect plant operations including safety, environmental, capacity, quality, cost, and regulatory compliance issues
Consult with peers across the site and company
Provide technical support / expertise in the instrument and electrical field in the design and installation stages of projects, expense and capital, for new assets and modifications to existing assets to minimize life cycle costs and maximize asset availability
Lead and participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis
Systematically define, design, develop, monitor, and optimize asset maintenance plans that include:
o Value added preventative maintenance tasks
o Effective utilization of predictive condition monitoring and other non-destructive testing methodologies to proactively identify potential reliability risks
Apply value analysis to repair / replace decisions
Provide technical support to the process engineering, production, maintenance, and project groups
Manage the site’s Safety Instrumented System program, including but not limited to:
o Developing / maintaining SRS documentation
o Evaluating test results and optimizing maintenance plans accordingly
o Developing specifications for new SIS installations
o Writing / maintaining procedures
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
2 years minimum relevant experience in instrumentation and electrical systems, design, installation, and maintenance in the refining, petrochemical, or power generation industries
Ability to manage multiple / changing priorities
Ability to work in and lead teams
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing with internal and external clients
Strong commitment to safety, personal integrity, and ethics
Basic proficiency in the following areas with the ability to develop into a subject matter expert in particular areas:
o Industry Codes and Standards (i.e. IEEE, ISA, NFPA, NEC)
o Instrumentation and measurement technology
o Low and medium voltage power distribution and controls
o PLC maintenance and programming
o Analyzers and sample systems
o Safety Instrumented Systems
o Failure and reliability data analysis
o Predictive and preventative maintenance strategies
o Computer software tools (SAP, Microsoft Office, Meridium, ExSILentia)
