Perform routine engineering tasks primarily in the system protection discipline
Perform short-circuit and symmetrical component analysis, time-current coordination, step-distance coordination, relay settings development, NERC compliance, and coordination studies under the supervision of a lead engineer
Apply protection system engineering practices and principles
Develop plans, specifications, and observation reports to ensure accuracy and compliance
Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality
Collaborate with engineering technicians and experienced electrical engineers
Takes ownership of quality, completing tasks and projects on time
Prepare reports and correspondence concerning assigned projects
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited) required
2+ years of engineering experience
Expertise in system modeling and fault analysis software (ASPEN, CAPE, ETAP, EasyPower)
Strong knowledge of relay coordination and protective settings for 12.47 kV–345 kV systems
Familiarity with NERC PRC standards
On-site commissioning and relay testing experience preferred
Ability to review and produce design drawings (one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams)
Knowledge of SCADA, communications, substation equipment, NEC
Valid driver’s license and permanent U.S. work authorization
