Develop and implement detailed security plans for select regional competitions and camps, ensuring the safety of participants, staff, spectators, and facilities.
Coordinate with Varsity Spirit staff, local & federal law enforcement, emergency services, and private security teams to design effective security plan for select events.
Ensure event venues meet all required security and safety standards, including crowd control, access points, and emergency evacuation protocols.
Identify potential risks related to safety and security, including crowd management, public disturbances, and natural disasters.
Develop risk mitigation strategies to address identified concerns, including contingency plans for emergency situations.
Monitor and review security measures during the events to ensure any emerging risks are quickly addressed.
Lead, train, and manage regional security teams, ensuring they are well-equipped to handle any situation.
Conduct safety and security briefings for all event staff, including volunteers, to ensure clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities.
Organize and oversee regular drills and training sessions to improve the readiness of security teams.
Ensure all safety and security protocols align with national and regional laws, regulations, and best practices.
Stay up-to-date on changes in laws, industry standards, and emerging security threats that could impact sporting events.
Maintain accurate records of safety audits, incident reports, and post-event evaluations.
Partner with Varsity Spirit Event Coordinators to serve as a point of contact for security-related matters for event organizers, teams, sponsors, and local authorities.
Provide timely and detailed reports on safety and security activities before, during, and after events.
Oversee incident response procedures and manage any security or safety incidents, including crowd control, medical emergencies, or disturbances.
Collaborate with law enforcement and medical teams to ensure rapid and coordinated responses during critical situations.
Assist in the development and management of security-related budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising safety.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, emergency management, public safety, or a related field is a plus.
Advanced certifications or training in event security, crowd management, or risk management is a plus.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in security management, law enforcement, or emergency response, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role within a sporting event or large public gathering setting.
Proven experience in managing large teams and collaborating with local authorities, event organizers, and vendors.
Previous experience in planning and executing security operations for sporting events or similar large-scale events is highly preferred.
