Reporting to the Operations Manager for Eastern Canada
Leadership role based in Atlantic Canada
Visit Client sites and interact with clients
Deliver projects in the Power and Industrial sectors
Focus on dams, hydraulic structures and other hydropower assets
Manage a group of technical professionals including engineers and technologists
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members
Prepare proposals, schedules, and manpower estimates
Manage projects from inception to completion
Ensure communication with internal and external stakeholders
Prepare engineering reports, design calculations, and specifications
Carry out feasibility studies and prepare reports
Site visits for inspections as needed to remote sites
Requirements
Currently authorized to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
University degree in Civil / Structural Engineering
Minimum 20 years’ experience in various aspects of dams, hydraulic structures and other hydropower assets
Experience in a leadership role
Ability to communicate at all levels of both internal and Client organization
Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
Good verbal and written communication
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
Experience working on a multidiscipline team consisting of dam safety, civil / structural, geotechnical, hydrotechnical and hydromechanical engineers
Led or participated in Dam Safety Reviews
Knowledgeable of the Canadian Dam Association’s (CDA) Dam Safety Guidelines and experience in carrying out Dam Safety Reviews (DSRs), including site inspection, condition assessment and design adequacy assessment
Experience in undertaking risk assessments and Potential Failure Modes Analysis (PFMA) related to dams
Ability to work efficiently and demonstrate effective organization skills to handle multiple projects and tasks
Ability to work independently
Working level of competence in own discipline in the execution of tasks
Working level of knowledge of industry and technology development within discipline area
Ability to create functional and cost-effective designs and processes that meet complex specification requirements with little support
Professional Engineer Licensed in Atlantic Canada or any other Canadian province with eligibility to obtain license in other provinces
High level of awareness and commitment to safety in all aspects of daily work
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Highly motivated and demonstrates personal initiative
Excellent oral and written English communication skills are mandatory.
