Primoris Services Corporation is a premier specialty contractor providing critical infrastructure services to the utility, energy, and renewables markets throughout the United States. The Senior Civil/Structural Engineer will lead civil and structural design for utility-scale solar projects, support construction operations, and collaborate with various teams to deliver high-quality designs.
Responsibilities:
- Lead proposal-level and preliminary civil/structural designs (10–30% level) focusing on: Foundation (pile) design, Site grading and drainage, Access roads and erosion control
- Review and interpret technical reports (geotechnical, topographic, environmental, hydrological, etc.) to inform design decisions
- Serve as technical liaison between engineering, estimating, procurement, and field operations
- Collaborate with clients to understand project-specific engineering needs and translate them into practical design solutions
- Interface with the Engineer of Record (EOR) to review and provide feedback on design packages at various project milestones (30%, 60%, 90%, IFC)
- Evaluate material options and design alternatives for constructability, cost-effectiveness, and compliance
- Provide engineering support during construction to resolve field issues and design RFIs
- Ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and project specifications
Requirements:
- B.S. Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (or equivalent) from an ABET accredited college
- In depth knowledge of federal, state, and local structural regulations
- Valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR)
- Role includes supporting multiple projects site locations with travel up to 15% of the time
- Professional Engineering License (or geotechnical equivalent) preferred
- 6+ years of Engineering and/or construction experience preferred
- Preference given for experience in Construction, Solar, BESS, Renewable Energy, or Power Generation
- Proven Experience With L-Pile Design Software Preferred
- Interpersonal skills – Ability to present information to a small group of employees or sub-contractors
- Effective communication skills (oral, written, listening, presentation) to effectively work with subcontractors and employees
- Computer literacy. This does not include knowledge of all software to be used, but the ability to learn to use efficiently the software which is in use. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio)
- Organization skills. Scheduling, planning and prioritization
- Advanced construction drawing knowledge. Knowledge of drawing layouts, references, notes, and good practices associated with producing and reading construction drawings
- Ability to follow safety rules without cutting corners. To understand the intent of safety rules, not blindly adhering to the literal words of the rule
