About this role
Role Overview
Build strong relationships with journalists and media outlets
Deliver proactive and reactive media activity
Create engaging content—press releases, op-eds, blogs, pitches and more
Support campaigns that drive awareness of IOSH’s vision and policy positions
Monitor media trends and spot opportunities for impact
Work closely with digital, social and policy colleagues to ensure joined up communications
Support the delivery of IOSH’s industry-leading member magazine
Collaborate on the development of presentations and speeches for senior IOSH staff and volunteers to deliver at high-profile events
Requirements
Excellent writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling and audience focused content.
Proven ability to write strong press releases and translate complex information into engaging, newsworthy material.
A strong news sense, with the ability to identify, shape and pitch compelling stories that capture media interest and generate positive coverage.
Confidence in building effective relationships with journalists and media outlets, engaging with a diverse range of audiences and stakeholders.
Comfortable liaising with and influencing staff and volunteers, ensuring they are well-briefed and remain aligned with key messages.
Experience creating impactful content and supporting multi‑channel campaigns that drive engagement.
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines.
A proactive, collaborative mindset, with a willingness to contribute ideas and work across teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills across multiple media channels.
Relevant degree or equivalent experience.
