Install and configure equipment used in the Science DMZ (servers, switches, and storage);
Evaluate and test new data transfer tools and network/storage troubleshooting tools;
Assist in proposing Science DMZ architectures, involving servers, networking, high-performance storage, and basic security;
Contribute to the design of network link monitoring solutions;
Support the review of budgets and commercial proposals received from vendors;
Perform network performance troubleshooting;
Assist ICT technical teams in configuring network protocols and services;
Develop expertise in Ansible for automating configurations on Linux servers;
Participate in technical meetings and assist with meeting facilitation and organization;
Assist in the technical supervision of technology development scholarship holders;
Participate in R&D&I projects aimed at advancing RNP's cyberinfrastructure;
Evaluate and test new protocols and services to optimize and automate the use of the e-Science Network;
Take part in service modeling activities to support e-Science;
Be responsible for conducting tests and proofs of concept for the deployment of new services;
Write reports, technical notes, manuals, and technical documentation for e-Science projects.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
Experience administering networks for high-performance computing (HPC);
Experience with Linux servers and techniques for troubleshooting network and storage issues;
Experience providing IT support, particularly to users of supercomputing systems or high-performance computing (HPC);
Knowledge of specifying custom servers;
Knowledge of component specification and performance validation for DAS, NAS, and SAN storage, including parallel file systems;
Participation in Research, Development and Innovation (R&D&I) projects;
Participation in procurement processes (specification, budgeting, and technical validation) for servers, optical cables, and connectors;
Good command of English (reading, writing, and speaking).
Desired: Postgraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields; experience working in a scientific IT team; understanding of how scientific research is conducted; knowledge of automation and configuration management tools based on Ansible; familiarity with high-performance data transfer tools; knowledge of the Globus solution.
