Review, draft, and negotiate a high volume of contracts for Wasserman Creators clients, including sponsorship/endorsement, appearance, content, production, literary, and other types of deals
Conduct research and analysis of specific legal questions and prepare opinions setting forth research results, recommendations, and conclusions in a variety of legal areas
Anticipate legal and contract/deal issues, and design and execute strategies to remediate risk to Wasserman and its clients
Keep current on legislative issues, statutes, decisions, and other important legal developments that may affect Wasserman and/or its clients’ interests
Support on a range of intellectual property projects, including Wasserman-owned IP as well as IP controlled by Wasserman clients
Assist with dispute resolution and litigation oversight
Manage various client issues (e.g., immigration, employment/contractor, family law, real estate, and business entities)
Ensure compliance with Wasserman’s corporate policies and procedures
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
JD degree, admitted to practice law in the state in which located (must have evidence of good standing)
2-3 years of law firm or in-house experience, preferably in a transactional role with some degree of creator and/or entertainment experience
Ability to effectively explain legal issues in laymen’s terms to internal stakeholders and Wasserman clients
Ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels, including junior team members as well as senior and executive-level staff
Ability to be flexible and adaptable while maintaining professionalism in a fast-past environment, including meeting tight deadlines on the fly
High emotional intelligence and demonstrated ability to build strong interpersonal relationships
Self-starter who can work independently, but self-aware and willing to receive and implement feedback
Demonstrated passion for the creators industry.
