Perform a wide range of audit, compliance and credit risk activities for declined consumer loan applications
Render decisions on complex underwriting exception requests across multiple sites and ensure adherence to regulatory compliance for all direct consumer loan products
Serve as a subject matter expert and final decision maker on consumer underwriting matters for the Consumer Line of Business interfacing extensively with Credit Risk, Quality Control, Product, and Compliance at Fifth Third Bank to ensure decisions meet regulatory requirements
Function as an escalation point for decisions requiring higher level of knowledge and authority
Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience/education
Minimum 7 years Consumer Lending or related industry experience
Minimum of 5 years Consumer Lending Underwriting experience
Consumer Lending Credit Authority is commensurate with consumer lending authority guidelines and business need
Exceptional analytical and organizational skills
Proven teamwork, collaboration and partnership skills
Excellent knowledge of both equity and non-equity underwriting and associated credit policy
Advanced and in-depth knowledge of consumer lending guidelines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong computer skills
Proficient in technology utilized to communicate effectively such as Adobe, Excel, must have experience with Consumer origination systems, platforms tools, and technology. PowerPoint, Word, and Website development
Ability to be flexible, reliable, work independently, and committed to delivering projects to within deadlines
Ability to make high quality decisions, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet deadlines in fast paced environment
Ability to interact with senior level managers; build consensus; and motivate others
This position requires S.A.F.E. Act registration at the time of employment through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS)
